On the Functions and Characters of the Style of Historical Tables

Abstract

Sima Qian's history books as early biographical record set in the "history table", historians through the ages to improve better. The original observation end and Yu-Fan function on the simple historical phenomenon not only help sort out the ins and outs, but also on the biographical Supplements fill the necessary width; the same time, highlight the characteristics of the times, taking the world trend, showing the stage of historical development of the evolution terms, "history table" style do not have other advantages. "History Table" in the long history of continuous improvement, is to rely on historians to promote the spirit of innovation, promote historiography from the perspective of the history of the further development of the function and characteristics of the times table for a summary of the system has an important academic significance. The style of historical tables, founded by Sims Qian and improved by later historians in Chinese historiography, could not only trace origins but also make some supplements. Furthermore, it also could manifest characters of times, get a bird's view of historical situation, and display the historical progresses, which other stylistic rules did not have those functions and advantages. It is of essential academic importance to summarize the functions and historical characters of the style of historical tables to promote the development of historiography
