Abstract

St Catherine of Siena, Doctor of the Church, was one of the most illustrious figures of the late Middle Age. Her abundant correspondence cons-titutes a first-hand tes-timony on the Christian life of that epoch. A good number of her letters is addres-sed to women, and reveal a deep and demanding spiritual outlook on the role of the Christian woman -an outlook that values the characteristics proper to the female condition-
