Abstract

This paper will begin by exploring some recent theories that deal with defeated knowledge. I shall then propose an alternative account of some representative exampled of defeated knowledge. No attempt will be made to develop an analysis of knowledge in general; the account proposed is meant only to enhance our understanding, from a justificationist point of view, of defeated knowledge, and to help us determine whether reliability accounts of defeated knowledge, which seem to be the most plausible kind of naturalistic account, are superior to justifications accounts of defeated knowledge.
