Abstract

Three concepts (īmān, islām, and taqwā) are presented by the author as basic to the ethical perspective of the Qur'ān. Each is analyzed in considerable detail, and the relations among these concepts are clarified. Then some of their implications for the Muslim community in its social and political dimensions are set forth.
