Abstract

Objective: To determine the perception of undergraduate medical students regarding different ethical issues encountered in medical field. Materials and Methods: The 3rd year MBBS students at LUMHS were given the pre-designed and self-report questionnaire and were requested to take part in the study. Total 100 Students of 3rd Year MBBS were given the questionnaire in June 2014. Out of 100 Students 91 completed the questionnaire. Results: The results of this study shows that majority of undergraduate students have understood bioethics. The students were taught bioethics in their initial two years of MBBS and now majority of them are practicing medical ethics in their ward postings and clinical rotations. Conclusion: The responses of the questionnaire indicate that students do have awareness about bioethics and majority of them are practicing it and have knowledge about it. The curriculum can be further modified to fill the gaps in the knowledge among students to improve future practices.
