Dialogues above the Black Hole
Abstract
What lies in the black hole about which Alenka Puhar has decided to speak? Events we would like to hush up, hide, gloss over. Her talk, however, does not deal only with secrets that their owners wish to conceal. It deals also with the fact that there is very little willingness to lend an ear to these issues; the more distressing the facts, the lesser the willingness to listen to them. An important obstacle to dialogue seems to be the human wish to avoid painful recognitions in favour of looking at certain countries and cultures through rose-tinted spectacles. The talk will also include data on communism, Islam and Yugoslavia, as well as case histories from contemporary Europe
