The Einstein podolsky Rosen argument- from an embarrassment to an asset
Abstract
More specifically, one notices that X1 X2, P1 P2 0 where X1, X2 are the position operators for the first and second particles respectively, and P1, P2 their momenta operators. This means that, in principle, one can prepare the pair of particles with simultaneously known values of X1 X2 and P1 P2. Then the knowledge of the value of P2 allows to infer the value of P1.(However, performing the experiment with these continuous variables is technically impossible and it remains a thought experiment.).
