Abstract

In this paper, the pre-Qin China Confucius, Mencius, Xun both Confucian and Western thinking, according to Thomas Aquinas, as a Western "intellectual virtue" ideological basis of comparison, both in the Wisdom of whether there can be ideological basis for dialogue or intermediation of Road. Due to cultural differences and language use, and Western Germany in the intellectual understanding and interpretation, but also show a very different appearance, the researchers think that this is different, see mainly the same. Even with the pre-Qin Confucianism Confucius, Mencius, Xun German philosophy in the intellectual issues, but also both accept each other's side of the Confucian tradition, but also and create a new side, mainly with differences in the see. This paper is the first for the "intellectual and moral meaning of nature" were two of Thomas Aquinas and the Confucian view, in the Confucian context also distinguish Confucius, Mencius, Xun Sanzi individual expositions, showing the differences between the third son of thinking. Second, for Xunzi mentioned the "knowledge / wisdom," the three said: "make friends", "Knowing," "knowing", to reflect, although intended to illustrate Wisdom "knowing" without actually was founded on the implicit of "knowing" on. Then, each addition of Mencius, but are not born that Wisdom that is to be acquired through training. Furthermore, the association of Wisdom from Mencius Liangzhiliangneng to the theory of比多瑪斯Wisdom and conscience of the difference. Finally, three observations made as a comparative study of this tentative conclusion. This article is founded on the Pre-qin Chinese Confucian thoughts of Confucius, Mencius, Xun-zi and the Western thoughts of Thomas Aquinas to compare the Chinese and Western ideas about "prudence " in order to see if they have some basis to make a dialogue upon. Due to the cultural and language differences, the understandings and interpretations about prudence in China and the West are apparently different, which are assumed to be similar in some way despite all the seeming differences. Even the three Pre- qin Confucians have their individual traditional and innovative thoughts about the issue of prudence, which are different despite all the seeming similarities. In this paper, we first explore Aquinas's and the Pre-qin Confucians' views respectively in terms of the "concept and nature of prudence, "while the Pre-qin Confucianism is further categorized into three different doctrines by Confucius, Mencius, and Xun-zi, presenting the differences in their thoughts. And we address the three grades of" prudence "-" making others know one's self "," knowing others ", and" knowing one's self "-to show that prudence is founded on the implicit" knowing one's self "while focuses on" knowing others. "Then it is explored that, except Mencius, Aquinas and the Confucians believe prudence to be acquired rather than natural. Furthermore, beginning with Mencius's relating prudence with intuitive knowledge and ability, we show the distinction between Aquinas's doctrines respectively about prudence and conscience. Finally, three observations are proposed as the temporary conclusion of this comparative study
