Abstract

This article is devoted to the analysis of B. Hersonsky’s outlooks on life sense in suicidological problems’ context. The article highlights fundamental principles of the V. Frankl’s logotherapy. The main goal of this article is the understanding the relationship of gaining or losing the meaning of life with a suicidal decision. The objectives are: 1) to analyze the reflections famous psychologist, poet and essayist B. Kherson about the meaning of life in their correlation with suicide; 2) outline the fundamental tenets of logotherapy Austrian psychotherapist V. Frankl; 3) to draw conclusions. The papers of Kherson «The meaning of life: the acquisition and loss» and V. Frankl’s «Man’s Search for Meaning» are used as the basis for writing this article. In the course of his personal researches Frankl cames to the conclusion that there is a «supermeaning» in the world, which is the object of faith. Hence, logotherapy of the Austrian psychotherapist began to be seen by some researchers as a religious belief, thereby identifying it started to happen if not with religion, then at least with psychotherapy religion, which does not correspond to the true state of affairs and of the vision of its founder. In fact, logotherapy, inherently neutral as to religion and in the case of secular philosophical coordinate system. This means that the logotherapy aims to help everyone who needs it. The main provision of unconditional acceptance logotherapy is the most meaningless of life. The main guide of the logoterapist is the unconditional faith in the meaning of the life of every person, without exception, in the sense of not disappearing with the death and not annihilated by death. This article will serve as a further basis for the historical and philosophical analysis of the problem of the meaning in life in the context of suicideological and thanatological issues.
