Abstract

The article analyzes the existing approaches determining the ontological status of virtual reality in modern scientific literature. We consider the relationship of the alternative world and our reality through the escapism projection of its ambivalent characteristics. It is emphasized that the historical human desire to overcome the existentional limitations is today designed with real life in the virtual one where the elimination of transpersonal existentional fears becomes possible.
