Warren Schmaus is Professor of Philosophy at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he has taught since completing graduate studies in the history and philosophy of science at the University of Pittsburgh. He is the author of Durkheim's Philosophy of Science and the Sociology of Knowledge (Chicago, 1994), in additional to many articles concerning the philosophy
