Abstract

Moltmann considers the problem of utopia by analyzing the human capability in conceiving the future. Moltmann makes a distinction between planning taken as «status quo utopia» and the idea of future as «open system», where hope is still possible. The influence of Ernst Bloch’s thought is linked- along the author original perspective – with the detailed analysis of the Christian hope and eschatology, considered as crucial for the possibility of elaborating democratic utopias, able to match freedom and equality
