Abstract

Previous chapter Democritean Rhuthmoi vs Platonic Forms Nietzsche was deeply influenced by Albert Lange's History of Materialism which he read in 1866. Lange's reading triggered a lasting interest in some pre-Platonic Philosophers, especially Democritus, on whose work he took notes from 1867 to 1869 and finally lectured at Basel from 1869 to 1876.
