Abstract

The first English translation of three treatises that were part of Martensen's (1808-84) efforts to spread Hegel's thought to the intellectual world of Copenhagen. A 70-page introduction profiles Martensen and the treatises, and considers affirmations of the philosophy of religion and his relations with his student and later critic Kierkegaard.
