Abstract

Se la ‘prima modernità’ ha costruito il significato del futuro come tempo della sperimentazione e delle possibilità, la ‘seconda modernità’ lo mette a tema principalmente come dimensione incerta. Questa nuova cornice semantica plasma in profondità anche modi e forme attraverso i quali le individualità vengono a definirsi. Mentre il ‘progetto di vita’ sempre meno costituisce il principio capace di strutturarle, altre modalità di relazione con il futuro e con il tempo si delineano. Particolarmente visibili nelle costruzioni biografiche giovanili, queste forme di temporalizzazione non implicano tuttavia la pura e semplice perdita del futuro, e la rinuncia al progetto tout court. Costruiscono, piuttosto, forme di mediazione tra bisogno di controllo sul tempo e incertezza contemporanea.If the ‘first modernity’ construed the meaning of future as a time of experimentation and possibilities, the ‘second modernity’ defines it rather as an uncertain dimension. This new semantic framework also deeply shapes the ways and forms in which young people’s in¬dividualities come to be defined. While a ‘life plan’ constitutes less and less the principle capable of structuring them, new ways of re¬lating with the future and time are delineated. These forms of temporalization do not imply however the pure and simple loss of the future, or the giving up of a plan tout court. Rather, they construct forms of mediation between the need for subjective control over future time and contemporary uncertainty
