Abstract

The purpose of this essay is to analyze the soviet interpretation of the phenomenon of political realism. the author contends that since soviet political theory is mainly motivated by ideological prejudices, the ideas of soviet theoreticians exhibit a lack of historical and philosophical sensitivity. in the paper several soviet writers are distinguished, the most important of them-a karenin. his erudite contribution amounts to a redescription of political realism and power politics in marxist-leninist terms. the essay focuses on a number of karenin's arguments, in which objectivity recedes into the background to give room to ideological presuppositions. to provide the necessary corrective, the author tries to present in conclusion a logical and concise definition of the central ideas of political realism
