The Principle of Flexibility and the Moral Judgment: A Discussion around Confucian Bioethies

Abstract

Professor Li Ruiquan in the "Confucian Bioethics" in the proposed four basic ethical principles, as a solution to the traditional Confucianism and the middle between the principles of modern ethics, and to bear one's heart as the ultimate principle of Confucian ethics. The purpose of this paper that is made ​​to reflect its content and added, indicating to the realm of virtue-based type, is show the unique characteristics of Confucian ethics and values. In Confucian Bioethics, Professor Lee, Shui Chuen proposes four fundamental rules of morality as the middle principle between traditional Confucianism and modern ethics, making the mind that "can't bear to see the sufferings of others" as the ultimate principle of Confucian ethics. This paper is intended to complement and reflect on Li's writing, pointing out that virtue is the characteristic and value of Confucian ethics
