Abstract

Edited from lectures delivered by Nelson in 1919-1926, this book covers the period from Hume, through Kant and Hegel, to Fries. While one way agree with him that a history of philosophy must interpret and judge from explicit presuppositions, not everyone will accept his dialectical method as the only proper one or agree with the conclusions. A very full study of Fries' philosophy is included.--J. J.
