A third edition of the 1937 lectures that form perhaps the best short introduction to Jaspers' thought. Included is the postscript to the second edition, written in 1956, in which Jaspers describes his attitudes toward the conditions in Germany at the time the lectures were given, and the function that he meant them to perform under those conditions.--J.
