Abstract

In chapter 14, Grace Hussain (US) provides concrete examples of white supremacy in anymal shelters and exposes how this harms both humans and anymals. She questions the Movement’s alliance with a criminal justice system that has frequently been decried as racist and which recidivism statistics show to be ineffective. Hussain calls for a change of culture that welcomes BIPOC perspectives and individuals and employs them in leadership roles, bringing much-needed change inside the Movement.
