Abstract

Looking at the works of Celsus, Porphyry, and Julian the Apostate, Hargis (church history and New Testament Greek, Western Seminary, Los Gatos, California) begins with the criticism of Christian exclusivity. He traces the evolution from a rhetoric of radical distinction to one of rhetorical assimilation in a sophisticated attempt to expose the contradictions and inconsistencies in Christianity.
