Abstract

The concept of ‘performance’is now an important notion in art circles. Nevertheless, it is shown that performance does not so easily escape the traditional status of representation. Analyzing the idea of rhythm, this reflection tries to think of its peculiarity by confronting it closely with several artistic examples, going from the drawings of Hokusai, to Serge Pey’s ‘actions’ or Russell Maliphant’s choreographies
