Abstract

Propongo en este artículo reducir: las oraciones imperativas a asertos de cierto carácter performativo, los jusivos; y los mandamientos legislativos, ya sea a oraciones imperativas, ya a otro tipo de asertos también performativos, los promulgativos; y, en cada caso, distingo esas oraciones de sus respectivos contenidos, que son estados de cosas imperativos o deónticos; éstos últimos son las normas. Sostengo que esos asertos performativos son verdaderos en virtud de la propia prolación en la que se enuncian, en lugar de ser frases sin valor veritativo. I propose to reduce: imperative sentences to certain performative assertions, jussives; and legislative mandates to either imperative sentences or another kind of performative assertions, promulgatives; in each case, I make a distinction between those sentences and contents thereof, which are imperative or deontic states of affairs; the latter are the norms. I maintain that those performative assertions are true in virtue of the utterance wherein they are stated, and so that they do not lack truth value.
