Review: H.G. Callaway (ed.) William James, A Pluralistic Universe [Book Review]
Abstract
This new integral edition, established by H.G. Callaway, presents a grand classic of contemporary philosophy. Attention has increased over recent years to a theme of great contemporary relevance, that of multiculturalism and of the opposition to it among various cultures, that is to say to pluralism--reviving interest for a text which stands at the origin of the conception of pluralism. Seeing the world as a universe or, alternatively, as a "multiverse" comports with quite distinct consequences, not merely in relation to an epistemological and metaphysical design, but also regarding social and politiccal action.
