Abstract
Building on recent work in the intersections of philosophy and geography, I develop a political conception of a multiply-dimensional space-time as a replacement for the center/margin cartography often invoked in discussions of resistance to oppression. This provides a complex and resistant understanding of marginalization. Keeping in mind multiply-dimensional space-time I consider John Locke's political theory and argue that the construction of a social contract from a state of nature involves a violent attempt to flatten space-time. This discussion prepares the way for a consideration of resistance to various oppressions and the formation of liberatory coalitions and liberatory spaces that do not duplicate the flattening and oppressive moves of social contract theory
