Abstract

Protection is a key aspect of humanitarian assistance, and as such it should be included in humanitarian programmes. In order to program protection we need a proper working definition that defines protection as a complex outcome. We will discuss which is the moral and legal framework for protection, which are the main stakeholders in protection, how to define protection objectives, and which are the main kind of activities in protection. Then we will discuss briefly which are the main assumptions and risks when programming protection. Finally we will analyse how to mainstream protection using a logical framework chart. _Published online_: 11 December 2017.
