Understanding and Explaining Notes from Schleiermacher
Abstract
Some foundations and problems of a "hermeneutic doctrine" in the light of Schleiermacher´s principles and his struggle to build up a general hermeneutics are presented in this essay. Such a hermeneutics spans grammatical and psychological understanding on the one hand, and guessing and comparative methods, on the other. The essentially dialogic character of language is shown in their interaction. This study also poses an asymptotic and recursive approach between reconstruction and understanding processes which, in this way, give rise to a new hermeneutic circle.
