Abstract

The phenomenon of the information society is posted and analyze. The main fundamental characteristics and existing features of the new round of evolutionary social development are highlighted. Information Society is proposed to consider as a stage of social development, which is characterized by comprehensive information of social structures and which replacing the post­industrial social level. Number of signs on which information society different from previous stages of social progress are identified. The fundamental changes in various social spheres are determined by the method of comparative analysis of known scientific interpretations of the information society development. The conceptual domain of well­known researchers of informational stage of social development as D. Bell and M. Kastels are analyzed. Presented in their writings the link between information technology and social transformation, between knowledge and way of life is solved. These differences to previous information society structures public entities are indicated. The author emphasizes the idea that the information society is not uncontrolled process. The knowledge and information are considered as a key resource of information society. The influence of this kind of reorientation in various spheres of human activity and the functioning of society is shown. Special attention is heating up to the need of analysis of communication processes of modernity. Ukraine’s abilities to transition to the information level of social progress are viewed.
