Abstract
Analyzed the main theoretical understanding of the role and the specifi use of political violence in the conquest, maintenance and use of power and scarce resources. Underlined the particular importance for government monopoly on the legitimate use of coercion in the implementation of power relations. The main goal of any political struggle is winning, maintenance and use of power and violence is a major tool for achieving this goal. This is because the power is always based on the violence, because only the latter will support the implementation of community members of all legislative directives, speaking last resort application of penalties and sanctions, and political actors striving to avoid public violence turns into an effective mechanism for stable functioning of state institutions. Specifiity use of political violence in the struggle for power, largely depends on the type of political system, social class, cultural and educational structure of society, normative beliefs valuable citizens. State with stable political systems rarely resorted to unwarranted methods, mass violence. Instead, the state with unstable regimes legitimacy and low much more inclined to use coercive means of implementing authorities.
