Abstract
In a previous work, I tried to underline the notion of « point of view » in Maine de Biran's philosophy. I try here to trace back the origin of this notion in the authors whose works Biran is familiar, around 1804. We know he had read d'Holbach and mainly Cabanis, who suggested to convert the difference between soul and body in a mere difference of « point of view ». Biran took again the formula but in an opposite meaning
