Abstract

This work seeks to examine the definition of culture that is presented by Sigmund Freud in “Civilization and its Discontents” faced with the analyses exposed by G. Deleuze and F. Guattari. The main idea of the essay is to show how the way that Freud outlines the culture shortens beforehand the possibility of man’s real participation in the social field, for it interrupts the flow of desire as the only reality accessible to men. The first part will treat Freud’s definition of culture and the second part will intend to examine the relationship between psychoanalysis and politics.
