Abstract

This article analises the powerful influence of the feminist thought during the long period of criminal reforms iniciated in Spain in the late 80s and still going on today. The complexity and diversity of points of view inside the feminist movement have contributed to a deep debate on the suitability of criminal law for offering solutions to the violence suffered by women. The perverse effects generated by the growing complicity of a certain feminist sector with the governmental powers, in a shared punitivist obsession that appears to have no end, warns about the need to support and keep working on an alternative ideological discourse, less authoritary, more realistic and more sensible with the priorities of women in their fight against discrimination and gender violence.
