This article analyzes the meaning and philosophical scope of «Funes el memorioso», a short story by J.L.Borges. «Funes el memorioso» participates in the productive symbiosis between literature and philosophy, a characteristic which is evident in most of Borges’ work and which has taken Borge’s creations to the summit of Western culture. Furthermore, by reading «Funes el memorioso» we can draw connections between the work of J.L.Borges and some of the most important authors in the History of Philosophy. This article deals with landscape as a nexus between the aesthetic experience and the metaphysical issue of Being, in order to highlight its epistemological power linked with thinking and experiencing the Being. On the basis of a landscape analysis made from an ontological perspective, it reveals itself as a specially qualified phenomenon for the development of a Metaphysics-esthetics as an inquiring and experiencing way, enabling a reconsideration of Metaphysics as theory and practice. Firstly I present an introduction to the metaphysics-esthetics (...) experience from a historical perspective, to expose next two ontological perspectives on landscape: a) as a part of a larger ontological chain and a subjective-objective co-production; b) as a proto-art of Nature, artwork and art of peoples. The main object of the article is the exposition of the critical theory of culture of Georg Simmel, which we can call «tragedy of modern culture». In connection with this exhibition, whose topicality we do not doubt since the social and cultural problems that to a large extent are still suffered in large cities are being brought to the table, we present Simmel’s idea of culture as a condensation of the idea of culture developed by German idealism. On the other (...) hand, and as a second objective, we will try to demonstrate the line of continuity that exists between Simmel and the critical theory of the Frankfurt School with respect to the criticism of modern culture. Reflections on the influence of Spinoza, Bergson or Nietzsche on Gilles Deleuze’s thinking are recurrent, but what happened to Hume, to whom Deleuze dedicated one of his first works? The intention of this article is to show Deleuze’s reading of Hume in Empiricism and Subjectivity and the relevance of the interpretation of the habit in one of his most relevant books Difference and Repetition.

We are going to analyse the issue of alterity in the philosophy of Miguel de Unamuno through the study of Abel Sánchez. In this nivola, Unamuno examines the concept of envy and establishes the bases of a theory of alterity based on the specular relationship with the other, which it is constituted by the scarcities of the one who looks. We will also look at what are the philosophical premises of this narration, in which way it is linked with the (...) organic philosophy of Unamuno, and what its relationship with the theatre piece El Otro is, released more than a decade after but of a quite similar subject. Finally, we will outline a possible theory of the alterity by Unamuno that it is formulated through the fraternity and altruistic help. (shrink)

To the humanist proposal about the essence of human developed by the kantian anthropology, Heidegger replies with a tragic anthroposophy. From the ontological difference he finds in the Antigone of Sophocles, based on the Kehre and Hölderlin as a guide, the hermeneutics clue which designates the human condition: deinótaton. This way of thinking, developed based on the presocratics and founded on the new understanding of being as happening, is settled on a phenomenologic-hermeneutics understanding of the language which will make Greek (...) and German become those languages which answer the call of being according to alétheia’s demands. This article aims to clarify facts and contribute reasons that could lead one to consider the possibility of the existence of natural dispositions which, in that case, should be considered as ethical precursors. Given that the neuroethics proposal focuses attention and studies on the human brain in order to carry out the search of those natural dispositions, this text suggest an initial question: is it possible to go beyond the brain in that search? Or even better, before it? In this (...) regard, Baruch Spinoza proposes lines of reflection in his Ethics which appear susceptible to be taken into account and that, interestingly, connect with the recent works of the neuroscientist Antonio Damasio. In relation to the work of Ortega y Gasset, this paper aims to spotlight the importance that the reader plays in the construction of meaning of all philosophical text, beyond that marginal role it has been given in our culture. I will also try to make a critical analysis about that perspective of the didactic or pedagogical explanation towards the reader with which the literary factor of Ortega’s work has traditionally been interpreted.

Chaos, considered a generating principle since Hesiod, is the basis in which we think the existence of the body as a locus of wisdom - but also vulnerability. Language represents a shelter for this fragility, and its place in books molds the way to express wisdom as intelligibility which projects itself into said chaos. Books speak for trees and Earth for them, in this metaphor the idea of caring for the body is the same as caring for Earth. Human species (...) in contract with nature must protect it, for its own perpetuation. The house that shelters life is expressed philosophically in this essay joined to science and poetry. (shrink)

This paper analyzes the vicissitudes and changes experienced by the Spanish state party system from the 1977 general elections to 2011. Thus, after a brief terminological approach to the issue, it shows some generic features of the state party system and undertakes a critical examination of some of its most prominent typifications. On the basis of such critical examination, it finally provides its own and more adequate characterization of itself.

The present article intends to analyze the repercussions that neuroethics, as a growing discipline of neurosciences, has in the field of philosophy and moral education. These repercussions concern the evidence of a biological or neuronal support that determines both ethical behavior and moral reasoning. Faced with this situation, there are two main opposing positions: on the one hand, that which conceives that morality has to become a matter of sociobiologists; from another, the one that maintains that morality is irreducible to (...) neuronal chemistry, so it continues to demand a philosophical commitment. This paper presents the epistemological proposal of Helen Longino, a philosopher of science who understands scientific knowledge as an unfinished result and who takes into account the context for its realization, the subjects who do science, the importance of criticism as a tool for the improvement of knowledge and science. The normative values that this author postulates are presented, and they are compared with the proposal of Thomas Kuhn, in order to make explicit a novel and alternative proposal to traditional (...) science, which takes into account other perspectives to improve the conduct of scientific activity, and the democratization of it. The aesthetic tools proposed in this article pursue the intention of articulating and reflecting on dance as a phenomenon and artistic practice both from its generative and reflective ability. For that purpose I establish analogies between the complexities that aesthetic theory and dance share, from the modal interrelationships proposed in Estética modal, which give us the access to think in terms of transitivity, movement and interrelation.
