Plutôt que de tenter de retrouver dans cette expression une arme défensive réelle et proprement argienne, nous étudions ce bouclier et son énonciation pour son rôle de symbole politique à travers l’Antiquité et la place de la cité argienne dans l’élaboration de ce symbole.

    The scholiasts offer two different dates for the Pythian victory of the Theban Thrasydaios celebrated in Pindar's eleventh Pythian ode: 474 or 454 bce. Following several older scholars, I accept the latter date, mainly because Pindar's myth in this poem is a mini-Oresteia, teeming with what seem to be echoes of the language, plotting, and sequencing of Aischylos' trilogy of 458 bce, as well as allusions to the genre of tragedy in general.   • Justice, Geography and Empire in Aeschylus' Eumenides.Rebecca Futo Kennedy - 2006 - Classical Antiquity 25 (1):35-72.
    This paper argues that Aeschylus' Eumenides presents a coherent geography that, when associated with the play's judicial proceedings, forms the basis of an imperial ideology. The geography of Eumenides constitutes a form of mapping, and mapping is associated with imperial power. The significance of this mapping becomes clear when linked to fifth-century Athens' growing judicial imperialism.
