  • The interplay of courage and reason in moral action.Stanley Raffel - 2011 - History of the Human Sciences 24 (5):89-102.
    This article argues that both courage and reason are necessary aspects of moral action. It begins by examining Plato’s changing conceptions of these two virtues, and, in particular, the settled view he arrives at in The Statesman. Sloterdijk’s recent attempt in his book advocating rage to appropriate this dialogue in order to criticize Habermas is then considered.   • Dwelling in the nearness of gods: The hermeneutical turn from Mou Zongsan to Tu Weiming.Chen-kuo Lin - 2008 - Dao: A Journal of Comparative Philosophy 7 (4):381-392.
    This article argues that, as far as the problem of Confucian religiosity is concerned, there is an interpretative turn from Mou Zongsan’s moral metaphysics to Tu Weiming’s religious hermeneutics. Some concluding remarks are made: First, Tu’s hermeneutics is rooted in the ontology of self as interrelatedness, which is completely different from Mou’s theory of true self as transcendental subjectivity.     This paper defends what the philosopher Merleau Ponty coins 'the imaginary texture of the real'. It is suggested that the imagination is at work in the everyday world which we perceive, the world as it is for us.
