  1. Ernst Cassirer on Historical Thought and the Demarcation Problem of Epistemology.Francesca Biagioli - 2021 - British Journal for the History of Philosophy 29 (4):652-670.
Cassirer’s neo-Kantian epistemology has become a classical reference in contemporary history and philosophy of science. However, the historical aspects of his thought are sometimes seen to be in so...

  • Ernst Cassirer’s Philosophy of Culture: An Economic Assessment of Scope and Limitations.Pilar Piqué - 2021 - Foundations of Science 26 (2):341-354.
Cassirer’s philosophy of culture has been examined through various disciplines. Until now, however, no such assessment has taken place within the field of economics. In this paper, I attempt to develop this unexplored task through the economic concepts of commodity, money, capital, and culture. • Two Kindred Neo-Kantian Philosophies of Science: Pap's "The A Priori in Physical Theory" and Cassirer's "Determinism and Indeterminism in Modern Physics".Thomas Mormann - 2021 - Journal of Transcendental Philosophy 1.
The main thesis of this paper is that Pap’s The Functional A Priori of Physical Theory (Pap 1946, henceforth FAP) and Cassirer’s Determinism and Indeterminism in Modern Physics (Cassirer 1937, henceforth DI) may be conceived as two kindred accounts of a late Neo-Kantian philosophy of science. They elucidate and clarify each other mutually by elaborating conceptual possibilities and pointing out affinities of neo-Kantian ideas with other currents of 20th century’s philosophy of science, namely, pragmatism, conventionalism, and logical empiricism. Taking into (...)

  • Lokale und globale Idealisierungen: Das Wissenschaftsmodell von Ernst Cassirer.Giacomo Borbone - 2020 - Deutsche Zeitschrift für Philosophie 68 (2):189-217.
Ernst Cassirer’s epistemological trilogy – Substanzbegriff und Funktionsbegriff, Zur Einsteinschen Relativitätstheorie and Determinismus und Indeterminismus – is well known to Western scholars, some of whom recently devoted a number of in-depth and interesting studies to Cassirer’s epistemology. Nonetheless, they overlooked aspects of Cassirer’s concept of idealisation and his model of science as found in his last epistemological work: Determinismus und Indeterminismus. In this essay I will consider these two almost disregarded aspects of Cassirer’s epistemology in order to provide a better (...)
