    Far from being a precursor of poststructuralism, Maurice Blanchot was located at the very core of this movement. This becomes clear from Blanchot's views on language, on the subject, on the Book or the Work, and on the fragmentary. At the same time, through his notion of neuter or the neutral—a notion which is central in his work and also in poststructuralist discourse—Blanchot went further than certain elements of poststructuralism, especially beyond Derrida's notion of différance.

    I draw on Security Council Resolution 1674 to demonstrate that the political assumptions Jacques Derrida holds in his politically-oriented texts are inconsistent with the assumptions of his linguistic texts, and that Jürgen Habermas's political theory is consistent with the political implications of his approach to language. Habermasian pragmatism offers a critical theory of society and discourse of modernity that touches on the same themes of politics and meaning as Derrida and other deconstructionists, but is more coherent, consistent, and explanatorily persuasive.

    This article traces the "dialogue" between the work of the philosophers Luce Irigaray and Emmanuel Levinas. It attempts to construct a more nuanced discussion than has been given to date of Irigaray's critique of Levinas, particularly as formulated in "Questions to Emmanuel Levinas" (Irigaray 1991). It suggests that the concepts of the feminine and of voluptuosity articulated by Levinas have more to contribute to Irigaray's project of an ethics of sexual difference than she herself sometimes appears to think.
