||The belief that God created the universe is generally taken to be a part, or an implication, of theism, i.e. the view that there is a God in the sense (roughly) of a person who is bodiless, omnipotent, omniscient, and perfectly good. The theistic religions, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, generally teach that God brought a universe into being when there was none and that he sustains it. Both claims are usually taken to be aspects of creation, but some authors deny one or the other. There is much debate about whether God some time after having brought the universe into being intervened in order to create further things within the universe.
