    ΓΕΝΕΣΙΑ A Forgotten Festival of the Dead.F. Jacoby - 1944 - Classical Quarterly 38 (3-4):65-75.
In the Antiatticista, as we call the scanty excerpt of a lexicon of the second century A.D., so abbreviated as to be often unintelligible, we find on p. 86. 20 the following article: The Date of Archilochos.F. Jacoby - 1941 - Classical Quarterly 35 (3-4):97-.
In determining the time of Archilochos it is useless to begin with the eclipse—an event which strongly appeals to the modern mind, as it seems open to exact astronomical and mathematical computation. Even granted from the first and as a matter of course that Archilochos saw the eclipse and that it was total or nearly total in the place where he saw it, there are two objections: the astronomical data for the two eclipses of 711 B.C. and 648 B.C. are (...)

For the life of the poet Ion we have more certain dates than for most of the Other writers of the fifth century. In re-opening the case of the authorship of the Hellenica of Oxyrhynchus I am afraid I must state at once that you will find that there is not much in it, at least nothing new. The few pages, recently published by Vittorio Bartoletti, from a papyrus book which evidently contained the same work as P. Oxy. 842 have not changed the state of the problem. They confirm the two primary facts known about the author in question: that he is a (...)

The insight and challenge of reflexive practice in an ethnographic study of black traumatically injured patients in Philadelphia.Sara F. Jacoby - 2017 - Nursing Inquiry 24 (3):e12172.
The integrity of critical ethnography requires engagement in reflexive practice at all phases of the research process. In this discussion paper, I explore the insights and challenges of reflexive practice in an ethnographic study of the recovery experiences of black trauma patients in a Philadelphia hospital. Observation and interviews were conducted with twelve patients who were admitted to trauma‐designated units of the hospital over the course of a year. During fieldwork, I learned the ways that my background as a professional (...)

Accuracy and error: Constraints on process models in social psychology.Alan J. Lambert, B. Keith Payne & Larry L. Jacoby - 2004 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 27 (3):350-351.
In light of an historical obsession with human error, Krueger & Funder (K&F) suggest that social psychologists should emphasize the strengths of social perception. In our view, however, absolute levels of accuracy (or error) in any given experiment are less important than underlying processes. We discuss the use of the process-dissociation procedure for gaining insight into the mechanisms underlying accuracy and error.

On the History of Modern Philosophy.F. W. J. Von Schelling - 1994 - Cambridge University Press.
On the History of Modern Philosophy is a key transitional text in the history of European philosophy. In it, F. W. J. Schelling surveys philosophy from Descartes to German Idealism and shows why the Idealist project is ultimately doomed to failure. The lectures trace the path of philosophy from Descartes through Spinoza, Leibniz, Kant, Fichte, Jacobi, to Hegel and Schelling's own work. The extensive critiques of Hegel prefigure many of the arguments to be found in Feuerbach, Kierkegaard, Marx, Nietzsche, Heidegger, (...)

The Intersection of Knowledge Management, the Jacobi Method, and Operational Research: A Paradigmatic Example of Serendipity.F. D. de la Peña, D. Lizcano, J. Pazos & P. Smith - forthcoming - Foundations of Science:1-18.
In this paper we present a paradigmatic example of the use in knowledge management of techniques from other fields, namely mathematical analysis. We also highlight that the Jacobi method presented here takes precedence over the better known Hungarian method. Finally, we signify that the Jacobi method represents the first known or recognized case of serendipity in both knowledge management and operational research. This paper thus demonstrates the intersection between knowledge management, mathematical analysis and operational research and how taking historical perspectives (...)
