Carbonate Karst Reservoirs of the Tarim Basin, Northwest China: Types, Features, Origins, and Implications for Hydrocarbon Exploration.Wenzhi Zhao, Anjiang Shen, Zhanfeng Qiao, Jianfeng Zheng & Xiaofang Wang - 2014 - Interpretation: SEG 2 (3):SF65-SF90.
Karst reservoirs are important exploration targets in marine carbonates of hydrocarbon-bearing basins around the world. In the Tarim Basin of northwest China, four types of carbonate karst reservoirs were delineated using data from more than 200 wells, including cores, thin sections, wireline logs, drilling logs, and production data; these were supplemented with seismic and other data. The four types of karst reservoirs described were all formed by meteoric water circulation but not limited in the vadose or phreatic zones, including buried (...)

Quantitative Prediction of Total Organic Carbon Content in Shale-Gas Reservoirs Using Seismic Data: A Case Study From the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation in the Chang Ning Gas Field of the Sichuan Basin, China.Sheng Chen, Wenzhi Zhao, Qingcai Zeng, Qing Yang, Pei He, Shaohua Gai & Yu Deng - 2018 - Interpretation: SEG 6 (4):SN153-SN168.
We present a quantitative prediction of total organic carbon content for shale-gas development in the Chang Ning gas field of the Sichuan Basin. We have used the rock-physics analysis method to define the geophysical characteristics of the reservoir and the most sensitive elastic parameter to TOC content. We established a quantitative prediction template of the TOC content by rock-physics modeling. Well data and 3D seismic data were combined for prestack simultaneous inversion to obtain the most sensitive elastic parameter data volume. (...)

Applying Principal Component Analysis to Seismic Attributes for Interpretation of Evaporite Facies: Lower Triassic Jialingjiang Formation, Sichuan Basin, China.Suyun Hu, Wenzhi Zhao, Zhaohui Xu, Hongliu Zeng, Qilong Fu, Lei Jiang, Shuyuan Shi, Zecheng Wang & Wei Liu - 2017 - Interpretation: SEG 5 (4):T461-T475.
In China and elsewhere, it is important to predict different lithologies and lithofacies for hydrocarbon exploration in a mixed evaporite-carbonate-siliciclastic system. The lower section of the second member of the Jialingjiang Formation is mainly composed of anhydrite, dolostone, limestone, and siliciclastic rocks, providing a rare opportunity to reconstruct detailed facies in a [Formula: see text] 3D seismic survey with 31 wells. Wireline logs calibrated by core analysis are essential in distinguishing anhydrite, siliciclastics, and carbonates. Although different lithologies are characterized by (...)

    Stationary Cardinals.Wenzhi Sun - 1993 - Archive for Mathematical Logic 32 (6):429-442.
This paper will define a new cardinal called aStationary Cardinal. We will show that every weakly∏ 1 1 -indescribable cardinal is a stationary cardinal, every stationary cardinal is a greatly Mahlo cardinal and every stationary set of a stationary cardinal reflects. On the other hand, the existence of such a cardinal is independent of that of a∏ 1 1 -indescribable cardinal and the existence of a cardinal such that every stationary set reflects is also independent of that of a stationary (...)

Generalized Bosbach and Riečan States on Nucleus-Based-Glivenko Residuated Lattices.Bin Zhao & Hongjun Zhou - 2013 - Archive for Mathematical Logic 52 (7-8):689-706.
Bosbach and Riečan states on residuated lattices both are generalizations of probability measures on Boolean algebras. Just from the observation that both of them can be defined by using the canonical structure of the standard MV-algebra on the unit interval [0, 1], generalized Riečan states and two types of generalized Bosbach states on residuated lattices were recently introduced by Georgescu and Mureşan through replacing the standard MV-algebra with arbitrary residuated lattices as codomains. In the present paper, the Glivenko theorem is (...)

Concerning the ubiquity of social media, this research tried to examine the impacts of using Telegram on Iranian EFL learners’ foreign language motivation, foreign language anxiety, and attitude toward learning. To achieve these purposes, 60 Iranian EFL learners at the intermediate level were selected and randomly divided into two groups: experimental and control. After that, both groups were pretested on motivation and anxiety variables. After pretesting, the participants in the experimental class received treatment via using the Telegram application, and the (...)

Vision and Abstraction: An Empirical Refutation of Nico Orlandi’s Non-Cognitivism.Christopher Mole & Jiaying Zhao - 2016 - Philosophical Psychology 29 (3):365-373.
This article argues against the non-cognitivist theory of vision that has been formulated in the work of Nico Orlandi. It shows that, if we understand ‘representation’ in the way Orlandi recommends, then the visual system’s response to abstract regularities must involve the formation of representations. Recent experiments show that those representations must be used by the visual system in the production of visual experiences. Their effects cannot be explained by taking them to be non-visual effects involving attention or memory. This (...)

Estimation of Total Organic Carbon and Brittleness Volume.Sumit Verma, Tao Zhao, Kurt J. Marfurt & Deepak Devegowda - 2016 - Interpretation: SEG 4 (3):T373-T385.
The Barnett Shale in the Fort Worth Basin is one of the most important resource plays in the USA. The total organic carbon and brittleness can help to characterize a resource play to assist in the search for sweet spots. Higher TOC or organic content are generally associated with hydrocarbon storage and with rocks that are ductile in nature. However, brittle rocks are more amenable to fracturing with the fractures faces more resistant to proppant embedment. Productive intervals within a resource (...)

Personal Motives, Moral Disengagement, and Unethical Decisions by Entrepreneurs: Cognitive Mechanisms on the “Slippery Slope”.Robert A. Baron, Hao Zhao & Qing Miao - 2015 - Journal of Business Ethics 128 (1):107-118.
Entrepreneurs sometimes make unethical decisions that have devastating effects on their companies, stakeholders, and themselves. We suggest that insights into the origins of such actions can be acquired through attention to personal motives and their impact on moral disengagement—a cognitive process that deactivates moral self-regulation, thus enabling individuals to behave in ways inconsistent with their own values. We hypothesize that entrepreneurs’ motivation for financial gains is positively related to moral disengagement, while their motivation for self-realization is negatively related to this (...)

ABSTRACTFilm clips are widely used in emotion research due to their relatively high ecological validity. Although researchers have established various film clip sets for different cultures, the few that exist related to Chinese culture do not adequately address positive emotions. The main purposes of the present study were to establish a standardised database of Chinese emotional film clips that could elicit more categories of reported positive emotions compared to the existing databases and to expand the available film clips that can (...)

Seng Zhao’s The Immutability of Things and Responses to It in the Late Ming Dynasty.Christoph Anderl, Yu Liu & Bart Dessein - 2020 - Religions 11 (12).
Seng Zhao and his collection of treatises, the Zhao lun, have enjoyed a particularly high reputation in the history of Chinese Buddhism. One of these treatises, The Immutability of Things, employs the Madhyamaka argumentative method of negating dualistic concepts to demonstrate that, while "immutability" and "mutability" coexist as the states of phenomenal things, neither possesses independent self-nature. More than a thousand years after this text was written, Zhencheng's intense criticism of it provoked fierce reactions among a host of (...)

How and When Compulsory Citizenship Behavior Leads to Employee Silence: A Moderated Mediation Model Based on Moral Disengagement and Supervisor–Subordinate Guanxi Views.Peixu He, Zhenglong Peng, Hongdan Zhao & Christophe Estay - 2019 - Journal of Business Ethics 155 (1):259-274.
Prior research on citizenship behavior has mainly focused on its voluntary side—organizational citizenship behavior. Unfortunately, although compulsory behavior is a global organizational phenomenon, the involuntary side of CB—compulsory citizenship behavior, defined as employees’ involuntary engagement in extra-role work activities that are beneficial to the organization : 77–93, 2006)—has long been neglected and very little is known about its potential negative consequences. Particularly, research on CCB–counterproductive work behavior association is still in its nascent stage. Therefore, drawing on moral disengagement theory and (...)

Semisupervised Multiattribute Seismic Facies Analysis.Jie Qi, Tengfei Lin, Tao Zhao, Fangyu Li & Kurt Marfurt - 2016 - Interpretation: SEG 4 (1):SB91-SB106.
One of the key components of traditional seismic interpretation is to associate or “label” a specific seismic amplitude package of reflectors with an appropriate seismic or geologic facies. The object of seismic clustering algorithms is to use a computer to accelerate this process, allowing one to generate interpreted facies for large 3D volumes. Determining which attributes best quantify a specific amplitude or morphology component seen by the human interpreter is critical to successful clustering. Unfortunately, many patterns, such as coherence images (...)

Seepage analysis is always a concern in dam safety and stability research. The prediction and analysis of seepage pressure monitoring data is an effective way to ensure the safety and stability of dam seepage. With the timeliness of a change in a monitoring value and lag due to external influences, a RS-LSTM model written in Python is developed in this paper which combines rough set theory and the long- and short-term memory network model. The model proposed calculates the prediction score (...)

Religious Beliefs Inspire Sustainable HOPE (Help Ourselves Protect the Environment): Culture, Religion, Dogma, and Liturgy—The Matthew Effect in Religious Social Responsibility.Yalin Mo, Junyu Zhao & Thomas Li-Ping Tang - forthcoming - Journal of Business Ethics:1-21.
China has achieved economic prominence but damaged the natural environment. Can religions excite pro-environmental actions? Chinese religion encompasses Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, native Taoism, and indigenous folk beliefs. We theorize that believers demonstrate more sustainable HOPE than non-believers. Religions with standardized and formal liturgy show more pro-environmental HOPE than those without it. We challenge the myth that the believers of Christianity and Islam display more sustainable HOPE than other faith. The 2013 Chinese General Social Survey revealed that 11.10% of them have (...)

Dynamical Analysis of a Class of Prey-Predator Model with Beddington-DeAngelis Functional Response, Stochastic Perturbation, and Impulsive Toxicant Input.Feifei Bian, Wencai Zhao, Yi Song & Rong Yue - 2017 - Complexity:1-18.
A stochastic prey-predator system in a polluted environment with Beddington-DeAngelis functional response is proposed and analyzed. Firstly, for the system with white noise perturbation, by analyzing the limit system, the existence of boundary periodic solutions and positive periodic solutions is proved and the sufficient conditions for the existence of boundary periodic solutions and positive periodic solutions are derived. And then for the stochastic system, by introducing Markov regime switching, the sufficient conditions for extinction or persistence of such system are obtained. (...)

A Critical Discussion of the “Memory-Challenge” to Interpretations of the Private Language Argument.Zhao Fan - 2021 - Journal for the History of Analytical Philosophy 9 (4):48-58.
In a recent paper, Francis Y. Lin proposes a “memory-challenge” to two main interpretations of Wittgenstein’s private language argument: the “no-criterion-of-correctness” interpretation and the “no-stage-setting” interpretation. According to Lin, both camps of interpretation fail to explain why a private language is impossible within a short time period. To answer the “memory-challenge”, Lin motivates a grammatical interpretation of the private language argument. In this paper, I provide a critical discussion of Lin’s objection to these interpretations and argue that Lin’s objection fails. (...)

In this paper, I explore an intriguing view of definable numbers proposed by a Cambridge mathematician Ernest Hobson, and his solution to the paradoxes of definability. Reflecting on König’s paradox and Richard’s paradox, Hobson argues that an unacceptable consequence of the paradoxes of definability is that there are numbers that are inherently incapable of finite definition. Contrast to other interpreters, Hobson analyses the problem of the paradoxes of definability lies in a dichotomy between finitely definable numbers and not finitely definable (...)

Although applications are being developed and have reached the market, nanopharmacy to date is generally still conceived as an emerging technology. Its concept is ill-defined. Nanopharmacy can also be construed as a converging technology, which combines features of multiple technologies, ranging from nanotechnology to medicine and ICT. It is still debated whether its features give rise to new ethical issues or that issues associated with nanopharma are merely an extension of existing issues in the underlying fields. We argue here that, (...)

Since the beginning of the twentieth century, Chinese scholars have tended to traditional Chinese learning split apart and rearrange it according to the systematics of modern Western academic disciplines. By examining the meaning of Western "philosophy" and "ethics," it is demonstrated that Western and Chinese learning should not be lumped together according to the same systematics. Moreover, classical Chinese learning has always had its own complex systematics and its own long tradition, and it has undergone constant development over time. Thus, (...)
