In this article, we aim, on one hand, to analyze Haroldo de Campos› theoretical reflections on translation as transcreation based on the transcreative practice presented by the poet. On the other hand, we will present the peculiarities of Nietzsche›s text while establishing a connection between thought and life, form and content, writing and blood, aiming to verify to what extent Nietzsche›s texts do not refer their readers to a parallel and autonomous creation, even if reciprocal, meeting the perspective proposed by (...) Scholars point out contradictions in Nietzsche’s philosophy. An example would be his po itions on science, object of praise and criticism. If so, Nietzsche would make contradictory remarks about a domain that, on principle, seeks to rid itself of contradictions. From the perspective of Nietzschean philosophy, would attributing contradiction to it mean an objection? Would Nietzsche’s praise and criticism of science be incompatible? After trying to answer these questions, we will aim to show that the philosopher’s considerations on science reveal (...) a way of proceeding that he not only claims for himself but also prescribes to scientific thought: the art of nuance. The main goal of the text is to emphasize Nietzsche’s friendship with Peter Gast, as well as to present Gast’s dedication to Nietzsche, in terms of music, writing and the philosopher’s books.

The history of production of The Birth of Tragedy can be followed, in its diverse stages, by means of its preparatory texts. My goal is to carry out a general description of this process. By doing so, I hope to honor Lima’s The Masks of Dionysus. In this book, he analyzed the echoes of Nietzsche’s first work in the totality of his Oeuvre (the published and the posthumous one).

This article approaches different moments of Nietzsche’s cause for the abolition of castigation, identifying a turn from determinist arguments towards a new point of view we have been calling necessitarianism. The idea is that this change is an answer to the realization that value attribution is inevitable, and a new elaboration on the origins of morals, when the philosopher detaches from utilitarian concepts, with consequences for his moral psychology and theory of value. This paper aims to offer an image of Nietzsche as a reader of Schopenhauer, putting aside some fundamental issues, such as the influence of Wagner and the critique of his former master in his late philosophy. Trying to isolate these aspects, I will take Nietzsche as one of the most important reader of Schopenhauer. His deep veneration does not exclude relentless criticism and his relentless criticism does not exclude his deep veneration of Schopenhauer.

This article seeks to show that the work The Birth of Tragedy was received in Rio de Janeiro (the “Mecca of Northerners”, in José Veríssimo’s expression) from the end of the 19th century, in particular among some members of the Brazilian Academy of Letters and by the reputed music criticism Rodrigues Barbosa (in the dozens of articles about “Tolstoy and Nietzsche”, published in Jornal do Commercio ). In the same way, we intend to reconstruct with historiographic precision the sources and (...) the profile of the authors who read and published the respective work in our country in the first thirty years of its publication. Based on the Nietzschean conception of language as rhetoric, the aim is to show how the notion of constitutive artifice denies the naturalness of language and, at the same time, it is linked to the affirmation of an unconscious dimension operating in its functioning.
