  1. The “passion” of finitude. The young Hegel as Post-Kantian.Francesca Brencio - forthcoming - In Hegel-Jahrbuch.
  2. Hegel and formal idealism.Manish Oza - forthcoming - Hegel Bulletin:1-25.
I offer a new reconstruction of Hegel’s criticism of Kant’s idealism. Kant held that we impose categorial form on experience, while sensation provides its matter. Hegel argues that the matter we receive cannot guide our imposition of form on it. Contra recent interpretations, Hegel’s argument does not depend on a conceptualist account of perception or a view of the categories as empirically conditioned. His objection is that given Kant’s dualistic metaphysics, the categories cannot have material conditions for correct application. This (...)

  3. The Concept of Property in Kant, Fichte, and Hegel: Freedom, Right, and Recognition.Jacob Blumenfeld - 2023 - New York: Routledge Studies in Nineteenth-Century Philosophy.
This book provides a detailed account of the role of property in German Idealism. It puts the concept of property in the center of the philosophical systems of Kant, Fichte, and Hegel and shows how property remains tied to their conceptions of freedom, right, and recognition. The book begins with a critical genealogy of the concept of property in modern legal philosophy, followed by a reconstruction of the theory of property in Kant's Doctrine of Right, Fichte's Foundations of Natural Right, (...)

  5. Das Leben der Form: Praktische Vernunft nach Kant und Hegel.Thomas Khurana - 2017 - In Maria Muhle & Christiane Voss (eds.), Black Box Leben. Berlin: August. pp. 107–137.
The paper investigates the Kantian idea that a rational life is a life of “mere form”—a life in which a “mere form” is the force or spring of action. I start by developing Kant’s practical notion of life—the capacity to be the cause of what one represents. In a second step, I investigate the way in which Kant characterizes a rational life—the capacity to act in accordance with the representation of laws and to determine ourselves by the mere form of (...)

  6. Dialektik der sittlichen Freiheit. Hegels Auseinandersetzung mit seinen Vorgängern.Haeng-Nam Lee - 2017 - Baden-Baden: Nomos.

  9. La natura del riconoscimento. Riconoscimento naturale e autocoscienza sociale in Hegel.Italo Testa - 2010 - Mimesis.
My research takes as its guiding thread the statement from Hegel's lectures on the philosophy of spirit of 1805-06, that «cognition is recognition[Erkennen ist Anerkennen]». In this perspective I delineate, first, the consequences of this position for Hegel's epistemology, in particular with reference to the question of skepticism. Then, I show in what sense the recognitive conception of knowledge makes it possible for Hegel to comprehend unitarily, on one hand, cognition as exercise of natural capacities and cognition as exercise of (...)
